Mission Voices Summer (MVS) 2006 and Mission Urban Arts (MUA) workshops have given shape to this year's Grito de la Misión, the culminating event and celebration for these Mission District-based summer youth programs. Under the leadership of Southern Exposure, Mission Voices Summer lead artists Emilio Bañuelos, Mira Michelle, Marcela Florez Rodriguez, and Mission Urban Arts educators Josua Adler, Johnny Hernandez, Paul Marc Piñate, and Darren Vilegas, youth showcase and celebrate their work.

This year’s Grito de la Misión is a community celebration featuring the opening of the Mission Voices Summer exhibition, spoken word, graffiti art, reflections, and music. The Mission Voices Summer exhibition, RISE UP! LEVANTATE!, runs through Saturday August 26, 2006 and is located in the Crucible Steel Gallery at CELLspace. All events are open to the public and admission is FREE.

Mission Voices Summer 2006 is the first program to take place through SoEx Off-Site, Southern Exposure's year-long series of supporting new public works around San Francisco.
