Spring 2022 One-On-One Mentorship Program
About the 2022 Spring Mentorship Program
Pairing passionate advanced youth artists with professional artist mentors
Program dates: Weekly, February 15 – May 17, 2022
Are you interested in being a part of the celebrated mentorship program at Southern Exposure, offering young emerging artists insight into the day-to-day of an experienced artist and the opportunity to join Southern Exposure’s community of arts professionals? We are seeking mentors and mentees for our one-on-one mentorship program for youth artists ages 14-22. Working with professional artists, youth will develop projects exploring social and personal topics central to their community’s daily lives. Mentorship aims to help young artists develop artistic, educational, and life skills by combining the benefits of collaborative mentorship with socially conscious art education.
If you’re a professional artist, being a mentor is your chance to participate in the knowledge sharing that forms the foundation of the local arts community in a relaxed environment with dedicated weekly time to do art among other artists.
Just starting out in your art career? Being a mentee is your chance to receive feedback on your work, develop skills, and execute a significant project with support from established artists and Southern Exposure.
This three-month mentorship program will meet every Tuesday from 5 - 7 PM, February 15 - May 17, 2022. Our hope is to maintain an in-person model, with much room for accommodations and amendments due to the COVID-19 pandemic, varying accessibility needs, and specific project goals. Only mentors and mentees who have been fully vaccinated as defined by the CDC will be able to participate in our weekly in-person meetings. Over the course of the program, mentees and mentors will create work for a dynamic exhibition to be presented to the public at Southern Exposure in August 2022.
