Tenderloin Portraits
January 9 - February 21, 2004
Opening reception: Friday, January 9, 2004, 7:00 - 9:00pm
Exhibiting artists James Gouldthorpe, James Harbison, Packard Jennings, and Tom Ferentz of the Sixth Street Photography Workshop discuss their artistic practice. Friday January 9, 2004, 7:00pm
Tom Ferentz & Sixth Street Photo Workshop present the Tenderloin Portraits, a collaborative portraiture project between photographers and the low income and homeless community from the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. By setting up an on-site studio in the community, residents become photographers themselves through hands-on instruction. Poignant, thoughtful and often uplifting, this substantial collection reflects a different side of a community at risk.
