James Gouldthorpe creates paintings that present a narrative portrait of the rural lifestyle of the American experience and culture. Inspired by his grandparent’s struggle to keep the farm solvent, his own relationship with this history, and the farm that was ultimately transferred to him and his siblings, Gouldthorpe explores these enduring moments in bold cinematic brushstrokes.
