Please join us for a potluck to celebrate the work of SoEx Mission Voices Summer students and Transmissions Quilting Project, a trans quilting collective!

Mission Voices Summer youth created work to explore mending — of self, of story, of the weight we carry. Through layers of fabric, pattern, collage, painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation, they reflect on themes of care, labor, inheritance, and the histories we pass down and piece together.

As part of the program, students collaborated with guest artists Cordy Joan and Gaia Wu of the Transmissions Quilts Project, co-creating a communal quilt that reflects a shared practice of mending and meaning-making.

Emerged Under Covers is a testament to what unfolds when we create together — not in spite of what we carry, but because of it.
