$10-$20 sliding scale at door
The performance by BrujaLyfe, founded to move mujeres from the margins to the center of hip hop culture, will feature Chhoti Maa, FR333, and Dio Ganhdih. Chhoti Maa is Bay Area artist and educator Vreni Michelini Castillo. Her raps and songs have roots in her grandmother’s poetic recitation, in Mexican oral tradition. FR333 is an Oakland-based musical duo comprised of producer XOA (Allie Howard) and rapper/vocalist MADlines (Maddy Clifford). FR333 draws upon a diverse array of influences, from Timbaland to Radiohead, from Yeah Yeah Yeahs to Bahamadia, from Zion I to Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. Dio Ganhdih is a queer indigenous rapper with a heartbeat based in Brooklyn, an imagination spun in upstate New York, and a nervous system best suited for the Bay Area.
Son de la Bahia is an East Bay musical collective who play Son Jarocho – an infectious mix of African and Latino rhythms from Vera Cruz, Mexico. Son de la Bahia last graced Southern Exposure at the Closing Demolition Party of Sita Bhaumik's project Estamos contra el muro | We Are Against the Wall on October 15, 2016.
