This work was produced as part of the project 'Telling Fortunes' at the San Jose Museum of Art, 2012. 

Ranu Mukherjee makes hybrid films, work on paper and printed textiles which focus on the construction of culture through the forces of creolization, the nomadic, speculative fiction, desire and the unknown. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Recent projects include Extracted, a trilogy, at the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco and a 3-channel video commission for L.A. County Museum of Art. She has been awarded residencies at Space118 Mumbai, Kala Institute and the De Young Museum. Her work is in the collections of the Asian Art Museum, SF, the Robert D. Bielecki Foundation NY, the Kadist Foundation, The Oakland Museum of California and the San Jose Museum of Art. She is an Associate Professor at California College of the Arts and co-founder of the collective artist 0rphan drift. She is represented by Gallery Wendi Norris. Shadowtime, her third solo exhibition with the gallery, opens in May.
