This fall, the Youth Advisory Board explores ideas around hidden spaces and hidden communities. Through art-making, trip-taking, and collaborative research, YAB participants investigate often-overlooked spaces in and around SoEx. The semester concludes with a site-specific installation conceived of and created by the youth artists. YAB gives young people the opportunity to exercise leadership skills and participate in their community by exploring relevant social and personal issues through visual arts. YAB is organized by Southern Exposure’s Artists in Education Program in collaboration with local community-based youth organizations. The program bridges neighborhoods and cultures by pairing local artists with teens.
