An Unfinished Weekend

February 14 - March 22, 2003

Opening Reception: Friday, Febraury 14, 2003, 6:00 – 8:00pm

Like a scene spliced from a long-forgotten 70s futuristic sci-fi flick, Nick Ackerman’s un-stretched canvases and wall drawings are representative of chapters in a graphic novel that is open to interpretation.  It’s a novel full of empty text bubbles, carefully layered and weathered psychedelic patterning, lonely mountain villages dwarfed by the enormity of Nature and uncontrollable phenomenon that occur with or without the consent of mankind.  A San Francisco-based artist, Ackerman has exhibited his paintings in numerous group exhibitions including Widely Unknown at Deitch Projects, New York, NY,(un)Common Ground at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art and solo exhibitions at Lizabeth Oliveria Gallery in San Francisco.
