Scenes for a Box Carnival

January 11 – February 23, 2008

Elaine Buckholtz’s Scenes for a Box Carnival is a video installation that takes an exterior approach to image projection utilizing four projectors during the evening hours to light the windows, trees and sidewalk directly outside the gallery.

Buckholtz is an artist with a background in lighting design. Her work explores the medium of light as both an ephemeral phenomenon and as an intervention to unmask hidden aspects of architectural forms and landscapes. Her most recent work utilizes video and light in relation to sculptural forms, digital prints, and preexisting sites in architecture and nature under the cover of darkness.
