Rex Ray’s Monster Truck Rally: A Mixed Media Installation presents a cynical, quasi-nostalgic look at the commodity, aesthetics, careful manipulation of the public, and marketing underlying pop culture’s glitzy surface. Ray describes this work as “an examination of the precarious line between fact and fiction, where language is drained of effect, and where excess commands the utmost respect.” A graduate of and former instructor at the San Francisco Art Institute, Rex Ray’s work includes performance, painting, installation, and award winning video and print graphics.
