Homeward Bound: Video Installation
January 8- February 8, 1992
Artists’ Talk: Sat, January 11, 4:30 pm.
Opening Reception: 6-8pm, January 10, 1992.
In the mezzanine gallery, we present Homeward Bound, a video installation by Bay Area artist Scott Davey. Through text messages and electronic ‘corporate logo/muzak’ presented on a monitor contained in a single occupancy cubicle, viewers are seduced into a deceptively pleasant and hypnotic environment in which sinister possibilities are omnipresent. According to Davey, the installation depicts an extension of present urban works planning, and underlines the current crisis of confidence in civic leadership.
