Cherry Bomb, is a group show of female artists whose work incorporates themes and images responding to the experience of growing up in pop culture. Many artists today are doing work which is either about their childhood or reflective of the impact of youth culture and media on their early development. Implicit in this is a reexamination of the mechanisms constructing identity. This exhibition includes artist who grew up in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s—three decades spanning the emergence, growth and eventual ‘aging’ of youth culture. Curated by Mike Blockstein and Meg Mack.
