Address, an OVERLOOK project, seeks to create a small laboratory for examining how works of art and the artists themselves address their viewers, and how that gesture can be reversed and the audience can, in turn, address themselves to the artist. For this exhibition, Southern Exposure solicited works from a number of artists that use a strategy of direct address in their execution and/or conception. Address, which uses the mail as its means of conveyance, is an attempt to make literal the "conversation" or dialogue that art has been charged with creating in our society.  In order to facilitate this conversation the OVERLOOK Project Space is outfitted with a fully equipped writing desk (stocked with paper, envelopes, pens and postcards).
