Presented in conjunction with Sister Spaces, What’s the Alternative? is an afternoon of performance, art and discussion exploring notions of non-mainstream art and culture. In considering the status of many so-called-alternative spaces, both young and old, the question arises: alternative to what? Anchored by a round table discussion between representatives from IT Park, The Physics Room, YYZ Artists’ Outlet, Zé dos Bois, and local participants, What’s the Alternative? sparks a dialogue around what constitutes alternative practices from local, national and international perspectives, and will also feature performances by local artists Nao Bustamante, Howie Cherman, and Cliff Hengst.
