26th Annual Juried Presentation of New Work

Southern Exposure is pleased to announce What I Like About You, our 26th Annual Entry-Fee-Free Juried Presentation of new work. This annual event is the premier showcase of contemporary artwork by promising local talent. This year, artists are invited to submit moving image work for consideration by guest juror Christy LeMaster, founding director of Chicago's microcinema The Nightingale.

In conjunction with the screening, LeMaster will give a brief multi-media talk discussing the history of microcinemas in America, collaborative working structures, and creating modes of distribution outside of traditional market logic.

About the Juror

Christy LeMaster founded Chicago’s microcinema, The Nightingale, in 2008. She has programmed screenings for the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Chicago Filmmakers, Columbia College Chicago, The Onion City Experimental Film and Video Festival, The Chicago Underground Film Festival, Chicago Film Archives, Sector 2337, and Intuit Gallery. She teaches Media Theory at Columbia College Chicago and has been a movie critic on the NPR Chicago affiliate, WBEZ’s morning show 848 and CINE-FILE.info.
