Brooks Adams and Judith Linhares
An Evening With Art Critic Brooks Adams and New York artist Judith Linhares
February 24, 1994
Reception: 7:30 pm, February 24, 1993.
Admin: $5/$3 members.
Adams is a New York-based art critic, art historian, free-lance curator, and contributing editor to Art in America. He is also the author of the catalog essay for the exhibition “Dangerous Pleasures: The Art of Judith Linhares,” a twenty-year retrospective of the artist’s work on exhibit at the University Art Gallery at Sonoma State University from February 23-March 27. Fellow speaker and New Yorker, artist Judith Linhares’ work defies easy categorization. Fluctuating from narration to a more idiosyncratic symbolism, Linhares’ work has been included in exhibitions at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York and in the 1984 Venice Biennale.
