Impressions I, 2015
Julia Goodman is an artist who creates low relief sculptural paper pieces from pulped, repurposed bed sheets and t-shirts. She also works with beets to create ephemeral installations, framed pieces and prints that fade and age slowly over time.
She has exhibited nationally and internationally at places including the San Jose Museum of Art, Intersection for the Arts, Rena Bransten Gallery, Columbia College Chicago’s Center for Book, Print & Paper, DePaul Art Museum and the Salina Art Center in Kansas. Goodman has been an artist in residence at the JB Blunch Residency, Recology SF, Angelic Organics (a biodynamic CSA in Illinois), Creativity Explored and the Salina Art Center. She received a BA in International Relations and Peace & Justice Studies at Tufts University in 2001 and a MFA at The California College of the Arts in 2009. Julia lives and works in Oakland, CA.
