CAMO CABANA is a wall hung sculpture made from carved and painted plywood. The metal object protruding from the upper left side is welded and nickel plated chain. It resembles a patio umbrella or communication satellite dish in decomposition. The carving is reminiscent of a topographical map and the paint, in consequence, flattens the physical depth. The pattern is not only taken from military and hunting patterns but equally from reptile patterning i.e. boa constrictors.
Charlie Leese studied sculpture at the Rhode Island School of Design (BFA, 2008), he has been exhibited in New York City, NY, Providence, RI, and San Francisco CA. In 2012, Charlie co-founded Hunt Projects (private artist studios with shared wood/metal shops). In 2017 he co-founded CLOACA, a project space in San Francisco showcasing contemporary art in an experimental setting.
