The event lets spectators to observe artists in the act of creation, providing the opportunity to watch a drawing come to life, and to purchase a work of art minutes after its completion. Drawings are available for purchase immediately for just $60 each, and all proceeds provide direct support to Southern Exposure's programs and mission of supporting visual artists. The Monster Drawing Rally sets the stage for extraordinary interaction. *CALIFORNIA DREAMIN', Your Name on a Customized License Plate
by Noah Lang
When Noah was a kid, he'd search in vain for his name at every ubiquitous gift shop license plate stand, but there were never any Noahs in the bunch. Now, he's ensuring everyone is served by hand painting custom California license name print editions with your name. No name too short or too long! Names can be expertly rendered in both Latin and Cyrillic alphabets—inexpertly in all others!
*Very Young Artists Table!
New this year, Southern Exposure presents the Very Young Artists Table, a section where kids may draw and display their work on the wall for the evening.
THE MONSTER DRAWING RALLY: AN EXPANDING NATIONAL NETWORK
The response to the Monster Drawing Rally continues to grow and become a national model. SoEx has partnered with a growing network of nonprofit arts organizations throughout the country, such as The Armory Center for the Arts in Los Angeles, Midway Center for Contemporary Art in Minneapolis, 1708 Gallery in Richmond, MOCAD in Detroit, and Spaces in Cleveland, helping them establish the Monster Drawing Rally with our support. Southern Exposure is proud to share our successful fundraising models and community-building strategies with similar artist-centered organizations, and committed to serving as a resource for the national visual arts community through this and its other programs.
SoEx is looking for energetic volunteers to help with this event! If you are looking to get involved with SoEx, this is the most fun way to start. Call us at 415-863-2141 or send us an email.
