One of the best things about Southern Exposure is our ability to change. In the last year alone, we have grown leaps and bounds while remaining committed to our mission of supporting artists and their work. We have taken great advantage of the past two years when we have occupied several spaces in a short period of time and challenged ourselves to adapt to best support the arts community. Sometimes taking a risk is the only way to grow, and we have grown, indeed.

We recognize that none of our activity is possible without your support. Contributions to SoEx directly fund creative and cultural innovation—in the gallery, in the public realm, through grants and resources for artists and the arts education community, and, of course, in providing critical, direct support to artists. We write now to ask you to be an active part of our community. Your participation can help us bring the most dynamic visual arts to the Bay Area, and support emerging artists and youth with a full range of services, going far beyond what a typical art space can provide.

The most important thing about all of our recent changes is that they created an opportunity for us invent new models of support for artists. Realizing new and daring programs has kept us focused yet nimble, keeping our work relevant in the community while allowing us to build upon the innovative programming that has been our hallmark throughout our 33-year history.
