KATHERIN MCINNIS

Katherin McInnis' video works combine documentary concerns with experimental techniques. Her projects are often inspired by places: their ecology, history, and community. She also works in photography and installation. Many of her videos are made with ordinary consumer technology, such as cellphones and digital still cameras, reflecting the accidents and artifacts of digital communication.

Her videos have screened internationally at festivals (New York Film Festival, San Francisco International Film Festival, Slamdance, Ann Arbor Film Festival) and in museums and galleries (Centre Pompidou, SFMoMA, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, NGBK (Berlin)). She was the BAVC HD Artist-in-Residence in 2006, and received her MFA from California College of the Arts.
