JON BRUMIT

Jon Brumit creates hybrid projects fusing community, entrepreneurial, and site-based strategies with improvisation, performance, humor, failure, and sound. Recent solo projects include Vendetta Retreat, a walk-in revenge clinic with accompanying soundtrack, and Door To Door, an attempt to co-opt sales strategies for the purpose of generosity, spontaneity, cultural research, and the presentation of conceptual art directly to the minds of an unsuspecting public. Select collaborative projects include Neighborhood Public Radio, Sliv & Dulet Enterprises, Van Boven, Tote Oma, and The New Bobby Sextet. His previous audio CD release was made entirely with garbage during a residency at the San Francisco Dump and BYOBW, his annual race event down SF's historic Lombard Street on plastic children's toys, is now in its sixth year of observance as a free community event with hand-made prizes.

He has exhibited, performed, and presented his solo and collaborative works internationally at spaces including Southern Exposure, SF MoMA, Novi Sad Contemporary Museum, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Sony Metreon, Berlin's Arena, Flux Factory, Detroit Art Space, Cranbrook Museum of Art.
