2016 Common Field Convening | Miami

2016 Common Field Convening | Miami

Registration now open!

Common Field, a national visual arts organizing network, has announced dates for its fourth itinerant convening, to be held in Miami October 20 – 23. Organized by Bas Fisher Invitational, Cannonball, Dimensions Variable, and Locust Projects, the 2016 convening will assemble hundreds of visual arts organizers from across the United States and beyond to explore the contexts and conditions of artist-centered projects and spaces.

Southern Exposure is proud to be a founding member of Common Field. Common Field aims to serve as a platform for independent, non-commercial, experimental contemporary visual arts organizations and organizers from the US and beyond that supports learning, connectivity, research, and advocacy across these groups. Common Field was co-founded by Southern Exposure’s former Executive Director, Courtney Fink, with a group of organizers and leaders in the field.

Since 2011, the convening has brought together arts organizers, leaders, curators, artists, supporters, and radical administrators to share practices, exchange ideas, and deepen peer relationships. The Miami convening will include panels, discussions, skill shares, events, tours, and celebrations throughout the host city.

Common Field is funded with generous start-up support from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.

Program information, tickets ($150 / $125 Common Field members), and scholarship applications due September 1 are now available at convening.commonfield.org.
