A SoEx Artist In Education Program

at Downtown High School

October 28, 2009 — May 26, 2010

Lead Teaching Artist: Daniela Steinsapir

Urban Planner: Berta Lazaro Corcuera

Downtown High School students begin the second semester of this year long program to create a public art project on an unused section of Vermont Street, adjacent to the McKinley Square hillside in San Francisco's Potrero Hill neighborhood. Students have conceptualized a design exploring the theme of safety and community. The public space will be utilized for a site-specific project which will be on view this summer. The installation will light the space in a creative way, with a heart at its center and veins stretching out into the street.
